What is SEO?
SEO is Search Engine Optimization. When we search something in Google, it shows the related websites in its search results. Now, how does Google rank these results in different pages? Google actually considers many factors so that the readers find the best results in the first page. So, after creating a website, we have to follow certain guidelines and make the website search engine friendly. Then Google can show them in its top results. Therefore, the main objective of SEO is to bring your website in the top place of Google search results. And it should appear in the search results without any ad or sponsor. So, if you just develop a website and expect that it will automatically appear in the first page of Google search results without doing any type of SEO, it will never happen. So, you have to spend time for doing SEO or Search Engine Optimization.
Factors to consider in SEO
Although there are many factors to consider when improving the SEO of a website, we can classify them in the following categories:
- Structure of the website
- Design of the website
- Content of the website
So, we have to improve the SEO of a website by focusing on the structure, design and content of the target website. We have to follow Google’s SEO guide in our website. If we can do that, we can also hope that Google will provide our website a better place in the search result. And this is called SEO (Search Engine Optimization).
Techniques of SEO
There are 3 different techniques we can apply for the SEO of our websites. These are:
- White hat: When we follow Google’s SEO guideline completely, we are applying the white hat technique or white hat SEO. This is completely a legal technique.
- Black hat: If we do not follow Google’s SEO guideline and apply illegal techniques to rank our website, this is called black hat technique or black hat SEO.
- Gray hat: If we mix white hat and black hat techniques, it is called gray hat technique or gray hat SEO.
We always have to follow white hat techniques for SEO. Because if we follow black or gray hat techniques to rank our website illegally, Google’s algorithm will eventually remove our website from its search results. So, we should not use any illegal techniques to rank our website temporarily. Always aim for the best and legal practices for improving the SEO of our websites.
